Share the Show

with Seed Art Share!

Theatre Raleigh is excited to announce our partnership with Seed Art Share to provide Share the Show, an on-site childcare entertainment program during select performances!

The 1940s Radio Hour – December 23rd at 1pm

Who is Seed Art Share?

Seed Art Share is a nonprofit based in North Carolina’s Triangle area with a mission to create community through interactive site-specific theatre performances, arts education, and parent-artist support programs. Since 2010, Seed has been honored to be a part of the rich tapestry of theatre organizations in the Triangle, and in 2017 we were recognized by Triangle Arts and Entertainment for “Outstanding Contribution to Local Theatre.”

Drawing inspiration from similar programs across the country, Seed is bringing innovative, artistically-rich childcare support to theatre artists and patrons in the Triangle, and is paving the way to make theatre compatible with childcare responsibilities. We have partnered extensively with local theatres to offer Share the Show, including The Justice Theatre Project, Bare Theatre, Playmakers Repertory Theatre Company, Burning Coal Theatre, The National Women’s Theatre Festival, and more.

What is Share the Show?

Not only do Seeds teaching artists provide an entertaining and safe environment for kids, but their staff of experienced arts integration professionals create show-specific, thematic activities that give children and parents a shared experience of the themes in the play. Children may participate in drama activities that reinforce the themes, styles, music, characters, (fictional or historical), and setting of the show. When parents check their children out of the program, they receive information explaining what their children have learned so they are able to discuss their shared art experiences as they leave the theatre.

Why Share the Show?

Seed Art Share knows that the arts bring people together and can create an environment for a beautiful community and connection between participants on both sides of the curtain. But sometimes making or even seeing productions can be both difficult and expensive when you have young people in your care. Seed Art Share is passionate about making theatre accessible to whole families, so that the joy of making theatre together can become a part of the family’s shared story. Their goal is to make this service so much of a common practice for local theatres that when the children who are currently participating in the programs are adult theatre-makers themselves, “sharing the show” will simply be an expected part of production culture!
