Jane Eyre

Jane Eyre

May 29th – June 9th, 2024 | De Ann S. Jones Theatre

Charlotte Brontë’s great love story comes to life in a musical that will lift your heart and set your spirit soaring. This beloved tale of secrets and the lies that secrets create, of unimaginable hope and unspoken passion, reminds us what it is to fall deeply, truly and completely in love.

Jane’s story begins in Gateshead, where she is in the unfortunate care of her cruel Aunt Sarah and cousin, John, as per her uncle’s dying wish. The miserable young orphan is finally rescued when she is sent away to attend Lowood School for Girls. After six years, Jane leaves Lowood and is shortly after hired as a governess at Thornfield Hall. Here, she meets Mr. Edward Rochester, thus beginning her passionate and heart-wrenching journey of love, loss and the struggles of morality.

Nominated for five Tony Awards, Jane Eyre explores religion, sexuality and proto feminism, all while enchanting audiences with a timeless love story.

Jane Eyre Live Capture Performance – Sunday, June 9th at 7:30pm

We are excited to be adding a adding a very special performance of Jane Eyre on Sunday, June 9th at 7:30pm!

At this performance, our production of Jane Eyre will be filmed for the official live capturing of the show, and we would love for our patrons to be involved with this exciting opportunity!

Why live capture, why now?

Yes, Jane Eyre has Broadway cache, Tony Nominations and a sweeping story and lush score. But the scale and scope of the original production, not to mention a large cast and orchestra, deterred many regional theatres from including it in their seasons. That is why

the writers have reduced the cast to 11, the orchestra to 8 players, simplified scenic demands and have made it much more producible. Live capture of Broadway theatre is very popular these days as it offers accessibility to those unable to join in person as well as promote to a wider demographic range while inspiring a love of the performing arts! This Theatre Raleigh production will be a natural advertisement for the licensing rights and add to the Paul Gordon live-capture treasure trove!

This performance is limited to only 50 tickets, with all seating being $30 and General Admission.

*Please note: Due to the nature of the filming process, there may be moments during the performance where a camera or filming crew member blocks your view. For questions or concerns, please email boxoffice@theatreraleigh.com
